Welcome to the Taste of the Santa Cruz Valley!
Message from March 17: Our very exciting and worthwhile endeavor presented luscious cuisine, fine wine and entertainment at the Country Club of Green Valley on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It was a definite success, despite the rain, hail, wind, and frigid temperatures. Graduating seniors from Sahuarita, Rio Rico, Patagonia and Nogales High Schools will have an opportunity to benefit from scholarships provided by the Unity in the Valley Scholarship Foundation – Adrianna Rebecca Klawson Memorial, which will be financed with event proceeds. This project will benefit youth while at the same time offering an opportunity to our active adult living community, younger adults, organizations, businesses and individuals to work together in expanding educational opportunities as well as improving the lives and futures of area youngsters. As a result of these cooperative efforts, our community as a whole – the Santa Cruz Valley – will become a better place to live and work. This event became a reality thanks to the generosity our Sponsor Partners: KGVY Radio-1080 AM, Country Club of Green Valley, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, Fry’s Food Stores, Realty Executives of Southern Arizona, Desert Diamond Casino and Jim Click Ford. Our excellent Entertainment Partners included the Green Valley Stage Band, Bavarian Band and Sierra Brass Sextet. Cuisine Partners provided delectable samplings and included Lavender Restaurant (Green Valley), Cow Palace (Amado), Esplendor Resort and Country Club (Rio Rico), Fry’s Food Stores (Sahuarita), Gathering Grounds Restaurant (Patagonia), Kokopelli’s Gelato Factory (Green Valley), Los Pavo Reales Restaurant (Green Valley) and Wisdom’s Café (Tumacacori). Wine and Beverage Partners tantalized people's palates and included Callaghan Vineyards & Winery, Gaucho Imports, Sonoita Vineyards & Winery, Quail Distributing and Gadsden Coffee Company. Thanks to area businesses, merchants, service providers and individuals, listed as Contributing Partners, there was a Silent Auction and Raffle. Attendees received a souvenir wine glass. This undertaking encompasses the Santa Cruz Valley including Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tohono O’odham Nation, Pascua Yaqui Tribal area, Amado, Tumacacori, Arivaca, Tubac, Rio Rico, Nogales, Patagonia, Elgin, Sonoita, and more. Unity in the Valley, which hosted this event, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Taste of the Santa Cruz Valley was a remarkable, well attended and a definite success (despite the weather) - an event with which you should be proud to have your name associated. More importantly, it will provide a chance for area graduating seniors to further their education through the scholarships provided. Thank you in advance attending! Susan Pace, Event Coordinator Taste of the Santa Cruz Valley
